About BTM

Introduction

 

Bachelors in Tourism Management (BTM) is a programme of Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) provided the degree from MP BHOJ (Open) University, Bhopal. This BTM of IITTM shall focus on management of tourism and travel.

Objectives
The programme of study aims at preparing graduates for taking up employment in a tourism organisation or self employment and / or carrying forward their family businesses. The objectives of this programme of study are manifold-

  1. Enable young learners develop a business sense and sensitise them to nuances of tourism scenarios.
  2. Introduce and train specially for managing tourism and travel businesses among others.
  3. Learn principles and practice of management especially in travel and tourism companies
  4. Equip and enable learners to start a new tourism and travel related business venture

Accordingly, the programme has a large component of working in real world situations under the careful guidance of mentors.

Course Structure

  1. This is an intensive programme of study of 3 academic sessions.
  2. The programme shall be divided into six semesters.There shall be an examination at the end of each taught semester.
  3. Each taught semester shall comprise of six modules, each of three hours per week equivalent teaching obligation and equal amount of self study.

This programme is a whole time programme of the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management.

Practical exercises and trainings

Programme shall increasingly depend up on practical exercises and trainings as a part of pedagogy.

  1. Learners shall be required to undertake study tours and prepare project reports.

     2.  Another 100 marks are for summer training project report based on training undertaken between second and third semester.

Specializations to be offered

This programme shall offer dual specialization.
Student will have a choice to opt for two specializations from amongst Air fare and ticketing, Air cargo operations and management, Tour operations, and Marketing.
Electives will be offered during second and third semesters.
Center however, depending upon its resources, shall decide whether or not to offer a particular specialization in any academic session.

Curriculum development is a continuous process. Course structure for Semester III and IV may change subject to recommendations of Faculty Council
